Flu Season Is Here

A message from your Parish Nurse:  Flu season is upon us again.  Here are a few things you can do to lessen your vulnerability.

1).  Wash your hands with soap and water, often, and especially if visibly soiled.  Hand gel is good, if soap and water are not available.

2).  Good oral hygiene!  Most viruses enter via the mouth and nose.  Keep your tongue, teeth, and fumes healthy.

3).  Cover when you sneeze, and use a tissue!  Wash hands afterwards.  Same goes for coughing.

4).  Try to avoid people who are visibly ill, especially those who are coughing and sneezing without covering.  If you are pregnant or immune compromised in any way, avoid sick people as much as possible.

I wish I could say do this and you will never get the flu, but it just doesn’t work that way.  These tips will improve your odds for avoiding the flu though.

May the Lord Bless is all, and keep us healthy.
