BOSA at St. Peter & St. Paul
Eighteen years ago. So what? Well for me personally my one and only grandson was born here in Arlington. I recall that very early morning (isn’t it always very early morning or very late at night?) very well and with much fondness. In addition to the above epic event… a handful of men got together and decided that having a Men’s Club at St. Peter and St. Paul was no longer enough. We wanted something more, something much bigger than any of us , something we could identify with on a national level, something we could “use” to promote God’s work, something we could have fun with and be proud of…and our local chapter of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew was formed. These early days usually consisted of irregular meetings, work projects, and well planned fellowship events with abundant attendance (in fact we would have folks show up that no one even knew) for the fellowship and the usual suspects at work projects. Over the years we have grown into one of the premier chapters in the country. Having completed a large variety of numerous STUDIES, many charitable outreach SERVICE projects, and getting better at PRAYER, our chapter (your chapter) has become an important part of our church as well as our community. Most may not know this but over the past few years our chapter has contributed well over $5,000.00 to our neighborhood Open Arms Clinic. We have also funded a scholarship program for a deserving student from our church for over the past 10 + years…well over $8,000.00 has been awarded. All of these funds were raised through BOSA efforts with absolutely $0 impact to the budget of SPP. This is not bragging – this is simply a statement of our commitment to St. Peter and St. Paul AND our community. I could continue but I suspect there is space limitation on these articles and better yet if you would like to hear more…come to the next meeting. All men are invited to attend …we meet the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month in the BOSA building. Come and share in this wonderful fellowship where men can be men! Amen! Don H
